PR & Marketing Can Be Tricky...Especially During a Pandemic

Besides cash flow, one of the top three issues that business owners, creatives and companies face is how to get more people to buy what they are selling. It doesn't really matter if you are selling an idea, talent, product or a service--- to get the ball rolling you need more people to stop and pay attention. That's why PR and marketing are so important because other than having cash to keep the work going you need to continuously work to get people to notice you to get more capital to achieve your goals.

It can be tricky. To move the needle, you need big and small ideas. For example, during the pandemic more people remained at home, traveled less and spent more time in front of their devices and televisions. As we move away from the severity of the pandemic, businesses that spent time doing direct to mail marketing and email marketing may still keep those strategies in place but may now want to pivot toward doing in person meetups, launching a podcast or engaging their publics on one specific social media channel and dominating that channel. They can then use that dominated audience on platforms like TikTok, Instagram or YouTube and leverage than into an affiliate marketed blog or create an online group and use that to drive traffic to their website or social media profile for promotions and sales.

According to Statistica people are spending an average of 142 minutes on social media each day. That is the equivalent to an average full-length feature film, the amount of time it takes to prepare and cook a lasagna from scratch or watch an NHL game. So, the eyeballs are there--- ready and waiting for you to grab their attention.

The fact is that more PR and marketing professionals are abandoning ship and moving away from the traditional ways of getting attention and dreaming up new ways to get to you stop, look, listen and buy. In the coming weeks and months, we will take a look at and unravel some of their strategies. You can see what best suits you and your work. But one thing is for sure, you cannot be afraid, you cannot stay still. You must work to further your efforts and move the needle so that marketing and PR won't be so tricky, and you can have the results you want. In our next blog, we'll break down PR, what is it? Do you need it? And can you do it yourself?
